The Number 14 bistro chair originated in 1859 by Michael Thonet and showcased his brand new steam bending technology and was essentially the first bentwood chair. The THONET marker is visible on the chair hoops dating them to between 1860 and 1888. The thin plywood seats are more fragile than the frames so it is rare to find these with the original seats. They are appox 32" high and 14" across the seat. They were purchased in 1968 and have many scratches and chips. One chair has a few dots of paint and one is sturdier than the other. There is some of the paper Thonet sticker visible on the bottom of one and they say Made In Poland. Pick up ONLY. Cash ONLY
